Preacher – You were supposed to Pray not Play!
I will say it once more The reason there is noise but no power behind the pulpit The reason there is drama but no wisdom in churches The reason there are crowds but no growth where we pastor The reason the offering basket is full of money but the church empty on morals.
Is because we have men more bold to climb the pulpit to preach publicly, but not courageous enough to stay up at night to pray privately.
The crowds cheer when we preach But return home to eat their spiritual vomitus.
They dress to kill when coming to church But fail to crucify the flesh daily.
They flood the church service weekly But remain spiritually weak sermon after sermon.
Because the kind of demons they bring to church and take back home every week only go out by Prayer and Fasting.
Not by the Preachers’ intelligence, the Evangelists’ noise, the Pastors’ manipulation or the Prophets’ deception.
- We were told to Pray before we Preach
- We were taught to Pray after we Preach
- We were trained to Pray while we Preach
We were reminded to pray between preachings, but all we have done so far is –
- We Play before we Preach
- We Play after we Preach
- We Play while we Preach
- And we Play between Preachings
- Preacher, I plead with you. Stop playing and start praying.
- Prophet, I beg you. Stop playing and start praying.
- Apostle, I humbly ask you stop playing and start praying.
- Evangelist, I politely request you stop playing and start praying.
Because only then shall we start producing disciples, not spiritual fans.
Only then shall we preach and produce fruit that last, not tithing backsliders.
Only then shall we produce children for God, not just members of the congregation
Only then shall we prepare God’s people for the works of the ministry not, just spiritual dwarfs who warm church benches.
Only then shall we produce a Royal Priesthood, not worldly worshippers.
How do people love our sermons and still live in adultery? Because THIS kind can be cast out only by praying not playing!
How do people quote our sermons weekly and still cohabit? Because this kind can be cast out only by praying not playing!
How do people love our church and still steal, rob and cheat? Because this kind can be cast out only by praying not playing!
How do people sing our praises and fill our halls but still consult witchdoctors? Because this kind can be cast out only by praying not playing!
How do people love our jokes but still despise, disregard and dishonour our God? Because this kind can be cast out only by praying not playing!
How do women shout and dance in our services but still dress and live like whores? Because this kind can be cast out only by praying not playing!
How do men clap and sing in our service but still think and operate like pimps? Because this kind can be cast out only by praying not playing!
Mark 9 “28 Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, “Why couldn’t we cast out that evil spirit?” 29 Jesus replied, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer.”
1 Thessalonians 5 “17 Never stop praying”
Matthew 26 “36 Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.” 37 He took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons, James and John, and he became anguished and distressed. 38 He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 – He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
40 – Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? 41 Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”
42 – Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.” 43 When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open.
44 – So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again. 45 Then he came to the disciples and said, “Go ahead and sleep. Have your rest. But look—the time has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Up, let’s be going. Look, my betrayer is here!”
